Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility filed a Freedom of Information suit against the Corps of Engineers in an effort to get quarterly reports on permit and enforcement performance. The organization has been tracking agency records for 20 years and says these show wetlands restoration has declined and enforcement of environmental protection rules has declined. The suit says the Corps refused its request for 2003 and 2004 updates of reports it had routinely released in the past. (4/13/06)
