EPA Says It will Continue Annual Toxics Release Reporting

The Environmental Protection Agency changed course and said it will continue to report toxics release data annually, but did not indicate whether it would also amend a controversial proposal to modify, and ease, reporting requirements for companies handling toxic chemicals. In response to the proposed rules for the Toxics Release Inventory, two senators blocked confirmation of President Bush’s nominee to head the Office of Environmental Information and more than 100,000 groups and individuals filed comments.
