The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee unanimously approved legislation strengthening protections for whistleblowers and extending the protection to those who work at the FBI and in intelligence agencies, and to people employed by federal contractors. The bill, HR 985, gives whistleblowers who believe they have been discriminated against the right to go to federal court if the Merit Systems Protection Board fails to act on their complaint in 180 days.
