The FBI is arguing in court that a search for records in response to a FOIA request only has to be reasonable, not adequate for the request. They said their “unsuccessful” search for documents requested by Salt Lake City lawyer Jesse Trentadue met the law’s standard even though Trentadue later found copies of the identical records that had been produced in earlier FOIA searches requested by other persons.
