Jose Padilla, once accused of plotting to detonate a radioactive bomb at a U.S. target, is being allowed to review classified summaries of statements he made during 3 ½ years in Defense Department custody as an “enemy combatant.” The unusual access by a terrorist defendant was ordered by U.S. District Judge Marcdia Cooke. Padilla is now charged with providing support to terrorist groups. (7/14/06)
