The Department of Justice reported to Congress that the government filed 2,181 applications in 2006 to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court for electronic surveillance and personal search warrants. The court approved all but five. One was later modified by Justice and approved. The special court itself modified 73 of the requests before granting approval. Intelligence agencies also sought and obtained access to 43 sets of business records. (5/4/07)
