A Florida company successfully outed its secret patents on rocket propellants after a year’s effort. There are currently 4,942 secret patents in effect, according to Secrecy News, which noted that the Patent and Trademark Office does not announce when secrecy orders are rescinded. Space Propulsion Systems asked the order affecting its patents be rescinded and made its own announcement. (12/6/06)
