Florida Gov. Charlie Crist signed two executive orders designed to further open the state’s government to the public. The first established a Bill of Rights requires agencies to respond promptly and courteously to information requests, allows them to charge no more than provided by state law and prohibits them from demanding requests be put in writing. The second order directs agencies to improve Internet access to information, including budget data and contract information, and a guide to making public records requests. (11/19/07)
