A Circuit Court judge rules Florida’s Department of Children & Families must release records of interviews conducted by the state’s Child Protection Team with a 13-year-old Lehigh Acres girl who was later raped and killed by her stepfather. The Fort Myers New Press argued the records would shed light on the performance of the welfare agency, to whom the girl had repeated appealed for help, claiming the stepfather was abusive. (6/12/06)
