Florida Gov. Jeb Bush vetoed a bill that would have required public agencies to provide a “prompt” response to people requesting records, saying it would put an undue burden on officials. Those burdened officials are, among others, his office staff. The bill was prompted by their refusal to release records related to the state’s school voucher program on four different occasions. The bill passed the State Senate 38-0 and the House 117-1. (6/21/06)
