The next move in the flap over Vice President Cheney’s refusal to comply with oversight procedures in handling classified information would seem to be the attorney general’s. His office still hasn’t responded to a January request for a legal ruling, and Congress is pushing for an answer. Meanwhile, the White House backed off its claim that the Vice President’s role as president of the Senate excused him from an executive order requiring cooperation with the Information Security Oversight Office. Cheney now argues he should be treated like the President. (6/28/07)
