FOIA-Released Records Reveal Depth, Breadth of FBI Wiretapping

The FBI has developed a point and click surveillance system that can instantly wiretap almost any communications device, Wired Magazine reports. The workings of the Digital Collection System Network are outlined in 1,000 pages of records obtained under the Freedom of Information Act. The system connects the FBI to switches controlled by cellular, internet and land-line providers. The records were released as the result of a 2004 law suit by the Electronic Frontier Foundation.
