Documents obtained through the Freedom of Information Act show that Interior Department officials told Fish and Wildlife biologists to manipulate the science on dessert Eagles so that the subspecies would be withdrawn from the endangered species list, the Center for Biological Diversity claims in a lawsuit. The center says that only 43 pairs of birds remain and that they should be kept on the endangered list. (5/30/07)
