Gov. Schwarzenegger Says He’ll Release Appointment Records

Just after the state’s voters overwhelmingly approved Proposition 59, putting a right to know guarantee in the California Constitution, The California First Amendment Center asked Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger to make his appointments calendar public. Records of the governor have been kept confidential for the past 13 years as the result of a 1991 California Supreme Court decision. Much to the Center’s surprise, the governor promptly said he’d honor the request. “It’s not like we’ve been meeting with terrorists or anything,” he said. (11/15/04)
