GSA Site Makes It Tougher to Track Spending Data

The General Services Administration has a new, $24 million web-based data system that critics say isn’t making it easier to search some 13 million records in its database on billions of dollars worth of government contracts. The Federal Procurement Data System-Next Generation is missing a couple of key search fields that make it impossible to search by the code used to identify service or product. And many users are balking at having to register and sign a disclosure form to get the information from the GSA web site. (2/7/05)
