The National Security Archive and several U.s. historical associations asked a federal court in New York to release the grand jury records in the indictment of Julius and Ethel Rosenberg , convicted of operating an spy ring that passed atomic secrets to the Soviet Union and executed in 1953. The petition contends that after 57 years, the scholarly and public interest in the records outweighs any continuing privacy or national security interests. (1/31/08)
