The Chicago-based Better Government Association sued the Illinois governor in an effort to obtain copies of federal subpoenas issued last year to state government. A Freedom of Information Act request for the records was denied. A spokesman for the governor’s office said it was complying with a prosecutor’s request to protect the integrity of the investigation.
