Illinois IG Wants Records Law Broadened to Open His Reports

The Illinois Inspector General wants state law rewritten so that his office can make public the results of its investigations into malfeasance by state officials and employees. Current law requires the information be kept secret. “This lack of transparency obscures the work of this office and contributes to public skepticism over the integrity of our investigations,” Executive Inspector General James Wright said.
