Indiana’s public access counselor ruled that the a community college board violated the state’s open meetings law by taking a straw vote on its next president at a closed meeting. Public Access Counselor Karen Davis said the private poll, not the formal public vote at an open meeting later, was effectively the final decision and so violated the state’s law. (4/6/07)
