Interior Department Challenged on National Parks Photo Permit Rule

The Society of Environmental Journalists, the Coalition of Journalists for Open Government and 18 other media organizations have urged the Department of Interior to modify proposed regulations on requiring permits and setting fees for the taking of photographs in national parks. The journalism groups said the rules as written could severely restrict the news photography, both television and print, in national parks and on other federal lands. “We do not believe DOI should be in the business of determining what is news.” (10/23/07)
