Several days after the Jackson, Miss., Clarion-Ledger filed suit to obtain copies of crime statistics, the mayor’s security budget and travel expenses for a mayoral trip to the Bahamas, Mayor Frank Melton agreed to provide the records and to contribute $100 to the Mississippi Center for Freedom of Information.
