A bill that would compel the Supreme Court to televise its public sessions was approved by the Senate Judiciary Committee. The vote on S 344, including eight proxies, was 11-7. The committee will have to do it over to make it official, however, because by rule, a majority of the members present must approve a measure to pass it out of committee. Those present split 5-5.  (12/7/07)
