The Washington Post reported that the Justice Department has backed away from a court fight over whether it can classify information already released and restrict its further dissemination. It gave an advocacy group permission to publish letters written by two senators that contain the contested information. Justice claimed initially that letters included to classified information from an FBI briefing, even though both senators said the FBI made no such disclaimer at the time of the briefing. (2/24/05)
