Justice Department Urges FISA Court to Keep Its Rulings Secret
· Story link
The Justice Department asked the largely secret Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court to keep a lid of secrecy on the government’s domestic counterterrorism wiretapping program and to reject an ACLU request that the court disclose its rulings on government actions. Justice said release of the information would “seriously compromise sensitive sources and methods relating to the collection” of counterterrorism intelligence. It also said the court had no authority to order the information sought declassified. (9/4/07)
