The Office of Professional Responsibility, charged with monitoring the conduct of Justice Department lawyers, has become increasingly more secretive. It is no longer issuing public reports now that it is looking into some of the most critical and controversial Justice actions, such as the policies developed on interrogation of suspected terrorists, the warrantless electronic surveillance program, and whether department lawyers have been involved in selective prosecution of Democratic officials.
