The Kansas Sunshine Coalition for Open Government is asking the state legislature for new open government laws that would make the information in criminal case affidavits public, require elected officials to take open records and open meetings law training, and provide that closed meetings held by government bodies must be taped and available for review in the event of law suit or some other dispute. The proposals are expected to draw opposition from the League of Kansas Municipalities, among others. (1/18/06)
