A jury in Knoxville found the Knox County Commission guilty of violating the state’s Open Meetings Act in holding private discussions on the filling of a dozen appointments. The verdict voids the appointments, which included relatives of commissioners and deputies of former officeholders. During the three-week trial, 47 witnesses testified, including all 19 commissioners involved. (10/4/07)
