The Associated Press and two dozen other news organizations asked a court in Louisiana to open the juvenile proceedings against a black teenager charged with beating a white classmate in a case that sparked a civil rights demonstration. The group seeks permission to attend upcoming hearings and review transcripts of previous hearings. It also asks that the court lift the gag order against participants in the case. (10/23/07)
