The Maine Supreme Court reversed a lower court ruling and said that the Portland School Committee did not have to allow the Press Herald to examine notes taken during an executive session. The court ruled that the committee had legitimately excluded the public from the 45-minute meeting to discuss the performance of the school superintendent and a $2.5 million budget shortfall.
