The Massachusetts Newspaper Publishers Association has asked the state legislature to consider six bills that would put teeth in the state’s open meetings law. The measures would provide a civil fine of $1,000 against any board and $500 for individual members for meeting illegally and make it a misdemeanor with fines ranging up to $2,500 for knowlingly violating the law.
