The mayor of Wilkes-Barre, Pa. has gagged city employees, directing that all media requests for information, including those to police and fire departments, go through his budget director. “It’s not about holding information back. It’s about becoming more responsible and getting information to you in a timely manner and a more accurate way,” Mayor Tom Leighton told reporters. (3/2/06)
