Media Protests Ouster from Public Meeting in Florida Capitol

The Associated Press and the Tallahassee Democrat have filed complaints with the Florida attorney general and the Leon County state attorney objecting to Secretary of State Sue Cobb’s closing of a meeting with the county commission chairman and county elections supervisor. Cobb had police remove reporters from the meeting, which had been noticed as a public meeting. Said Cobb later, “I’ve always said I have no objection to the press, but we do make faster progress without people having to look at cameras – that’s a fact.” (3/20/06)
