Shoot someone while hunting and the resulting police report is confidential? No, we’re not talking about the vice president. The Mississippi Legislature has approved a bill that exempts anyone’s hunting accident report from the state’s public records law while a police investigation is underway. Mississippi has a similar law exempting motor vehicle and boating accidents until the official investigation is complete. (3/30/06)
