The Missouri Supreme Court said the public and the press should be permitted to observe the juvenile court hearing in the murder of a nine-year-old girl by her 12-year-old brother in an argument over a hamburger. The ruling, however, allows the juvenile court judge to close other hearings as “provided by law” as the case moves through the court. (12/22/05)
