U.S. Sen. Clair McCaskill, D-MO, a former Missouri state auditor, stepped into the controversy over public officials e-mails by saying she believes destruction of state government e-mails is a violation of law. She suggested a special prosecutor be named to investigate alleged violations by the governor’s office. “I think they haven’t been truthful,” she said of the governor’s staff. (11/12/07)
