The Montana Supreme Court said the public’s right to know outweighs the privacy rights of a former chief public defender, ruling that his uncensored testimony in a discrimination complaint should have been released to the Billings Gazette, which had requested it. The court said the information sought “bears directly” on the official’s professional judgment, management and conduct. (9/11/06)
