The National Archives says in a new “Report on Declassification Challenges” that it will have to review 766 million pages of classified records to meet statutory requirements in the next ten years. The report says that “prompt removal of classification controls” from information no longer requiring secrecy is critical to maintaining effectiveness of the system. (10/3/06)
