Documents obtained by the American Civil Liberties Union under the Freedom of Information Act show that a top military leader directed interrogators at Abu Ghraib to “go to the outer limits” to get information from prisoners and that top officials knew of the abuse at the prison. In all, the ACLU released 9,000 pages of Iraq-related documents it had obtained through the FOIA request. (5/3/06)
