The Student Press Law Center has asked the Department of Education to reconsider proposed new regulations that would limit the release of statistical information on school performance. The new rule, citing the Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act, would allow schools to withhold data if any category of information was so small that someone might be able to identify a specific student.
