The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection closed its doors to the public and the media as it met with lobbyists and others called to discuss both legislative and regulatory changes involving its troubled site-remediation program. The Public Employees for Environmental Responsibility said lobbyists for the chemical industry, Chamber of Commerce, and a lawyer for developers attended the by-invitation-only gathering in the State House.
