The Virginia Port Authority has come up with the narrowest possible interpretation of the state’s public records law and will follow that when asked for employee travel records. The policy change was prompted by news reports on lavish spending, including a 2001 trip to a Paris air show. The new approach means the requester will get a one page report that shows the name, date of the trip and the amount reimbursed. (9/8/06)
