New York state’s Project Sunlight, a website created by Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, is providing a useful window to government information that has long been public but frequently not easy to gather and analyze. The site compiles public records including campaign-finance documents, lobbying disclosure reports, text and supporting arguments for legislation and campaign donations from lobbyists supporting the various bills.
