North Carolina May Be Next to Ban Autopsy Photos

North Carolina appears headed toward a new law banning the copying of photos and recordings of autopsy reports. The Senate voted 49-0 for such a ban. The House, which earlier approved a similar measure, will now take up the Senate version. The North Carolina Press Association and other media organizations argued against the bill, saying no newspaper had printed any autopsy photos but the argument was undercut when a Raleigh magazine printed two photographs from the autopsy in a highly publicized 2001 murder case.
