The National Reconnaissance Office released unclassified portions of its budget justification documents to the Federation of American Scientists in response to a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit. The agency last year refused to make the budget information public, claiming it was an “operational file.” However it subsequently lost a law suit on that point. The documents released were heavily redacted. The budget itself, estimated at $10 billion, is officially secret. (1/9/07)
