New York’s Committee on Open Government recommended that actions of city councils and other boards be invalidated if they fail to comply with the state’s open meetings law. In its annual report to the governor and legislature, the committee also called for the award of attorneys fees to those who successfully press open meetings cases, and greater use of the Internet to post meeting notices and provide access to records.
