Officials in North Carolina’s Buncombe County are refusing to release an audit report items missing from the Sheriff’s Office: more than 300 guns, $217,000 in cash and drugs confiscated in more than 1,300 cases. Officicials say release of the document could jeopardize any future court case. The local district attorney has asked the State Bureau of Investigation to step in. (6/11/07)
