The Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services has rejected a Cincinnati Enquirer request for the names of licensed foster parents, saying the paper had no need to know and release of the names would be “counterproductive” to the agency’s need to recruit foster parents. The newspaper’s request followed the death of a three year old in custody of foster parents who had lied repeatedly during the licensing process. (10/4/06)
