Ohio Legislature Votes to Restrict Records on Foster Parents

The Ohio Legislature has passed a bill that restricts public access to information on foster parents licensed by the state. The non- disclosure provisions are part of a bill designed to improve training and mentoring of foster parents after the death of a three-year-old was bound and left in a closet by his foster parents. “The legislative solution is to add more secrecy,” said Frank Deaner, executive director of the Ohio Newspaper Association.
