A South Dakota Senate committee advanced a new open records bill this week. The legislation now heads to the Senate floor for a vote but faces opposition from Gov. Mike Rounds, who has hinted at a possible veto if the measure reaches his desk.

Several Republicans joined Democrats to pass the bill 6-2 on Wednesday.
