The City of Hoboken owns but apparently exerts little oversight of the University Medical Center. The city told the Jersey Journal it only monitors selected financial reports and performance indicators and that the nonprofit firm that manages the hospital has no obligation to open its records to the public. The governor’s office, when asked about this, advised the newspaper to seek advice from its legal counsel. (2/9/07)
